S.4 Music Class students visited the ‘Cantonese Opera Heritage Hall’ Exhibition at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum on 19 November 2016. Besides understanding the culture and basic elements of Cantonese Opera, students also tried putting on costumes and head decorations of Cantonese Opera which enriched students’ learning experience.

S.5 Music Class students visited Yau Ma Tei Theatre and participated in the event ‘Cantonese Opera Appreciation Workshop’ organized by The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong on 18 November 2015. Besides understanding basic elements of Cantonese Opera, students also appreciated performance of Cantonese opera excerpt in the Grade II historic building which enriched students’ learning experience.

(1) The
aims of the Music curriculum are to enable students to:
(a) develop creativity and nurture aesthetic
sensitivity; (b) further develop their musical competence; (c) construct knowledge and understanding of diverse music
cultures; (d) develop critical responses to music, and communicate
effectively through music; (e) build a foundation for pursuing further studies in
music and preparing for careers in music and related areas; and (f) cultivate a lifelong interest in music and develop
positive values and attitudes towards music.
(2) The
four Learning Targets of the Music curriculum are :
(a) Developing Creativity and Imagination (b) Developing Music Skills and Processes (c) Cultivating Critical Responses in Music (d) Understanding Music in Context
(3) The
Music curriculum consists of Compulsory and Elective Parts. Students are
required to study all three modules in the Compulsory Part and choose one

E. Diversified Arts Learning Experience Programme Curriculum

objective of the programme is to provide a bridging
course for students to experience the aesthetic
development of the Other Learning Experiences (OLE) of the New
Senior Secondary (NSS) curriculum. In particular, the programme aims to :
(a) Introduce various art forms to
students
(b) Cultivate students’ ability in aesthetic appreciation
(c) Enhance students’ critical thinking skills in various forms of arts
(d) Develop students’ creativity in arts
(e) Develop students’ interest in arts & nurture respect for different
cultures
(f) Promote life-wide learning
